We set up the Costa Foundation in 2006 to give something back to the
communities within the countries from which we source our coffee beans.
The Foundation, launched in 2007, will implement programmes to
improve the social and economic welfare within these communities.
Education is a key focus of the Foundation. In 2007/8 we are building,
improving and maintaining schools within four coffee-growing communities in Colombia,
Ethiopia
and Uganda.
This is already making a big difference in regions where children have a
3-hour walk to school, or have no access to clean water. On our Colombia and
Uganda project
pages you can view videos of recent progress.
NEWS!

We'd just like to thank all of you that came into Costa on 14 June - Costa
Foundation Day.
The money you've helped to raise will go a long way to providing education,
water and so much more to all of the coffee growing communities that we support.
Thank you so much for making it a day to remember.
In addition to building schools, in Colombia, we have also invested in a
nutrition programme to develop land for crop growing. This
programme educates farmers and their families about better nutrition, and
provides them with food.
And in Ethiopia we are providing a library, complete with reference books
alongside the new high school we are building and furnishing.
And in Uganda we have also improved the sanitation and provided water
harvesting facilities.
